Where La Lessive Begins

A note on Marseille soap, perfume from Grasse, and the memory of linen drying in the garden.

La Lessive began with a memory.

Linen drying outside. A garden in summer. The familiar smell of clean sheets, warm air and home.

I wanted to make something that returned laundry to that feeling — not something loud or overcomplicated, but something considered, useful and beautiful enough to belong in the rhythm of the house.

At the heart of La Lessive is a Marseille soap base, made from saponified vegetable oils. It gives the formula its traditional character and connects LAVOIR to the old French way of caring for linen.

Laundry care, brought back to something simpler.

The perfume was developed with Grasse in mind: soft, clean, familiar. It is not made to overpower a room. It is there to leave a trace on linen, bedding and the things we live with every day.

Every bottle is made in small batches in Cheltenham, with French roots and British care. Each tin is filled, labelled and wrapped by hand before it leaves us.

La Lessive is simple by design: Marseille soap, water and perfume. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing dressed up for the sake of it.

Just laundry care brought back to something more thoughtful.
